I'll get the Lincoln Lawyer. I saw it at the video store last night. Is Insidious in the theaters or can you rent it? I plan on going to a movie at least once this week.

Your warm invitation to join my new religion called "The Church of Conscience"!
by yadda yadda 2 ini have started a new religion and this is your personal invitation to join it.
i got the idea from romans 2:14-15:.
"for whenever people of the nations that do not have law do by nature the things of the law, these people, although not having law, are a law to themselves.

Good post.
I think a lot of beliefs start out this way then someone decides they need clarify what it means to follow your conscience so they write "The Ten Steps to Following Your Consciense". Then there is the seminar. Then the super star speaker on the subject. The weekly meetings etc.... and before you know it its a religion or even worse a cult.

but homosexuals can be held to the same standard as heterosexual single persons: they can choose not to act upon their urges.
So what are they saying? That single homsexuals shouldn't have sex till they are married? So will they marry them? More pointless double talk.

Not much but it was nice when I moved. There was always lots of help.
"why do they stay or join?"
They join because they are lied to. If anyone knew what being a JW was up front hardly anyone would join. If the Watchtower magazine carried a warning label listing all the problems like a pack of cigarettes no one would sign up
They stay because they are brainwashed. If they ever do wake up they find that it isn't easy to leave. I could cost them their friends, their family and in some cases their means of support.

Do you really care?
by LouBelle inwhat i'd like to know....do you care if there is a god or not?
do you care if you have found a religion and others haven't?
how serious is it if people don't agree with your spiritual agenda?

The older I get the less I know and that doesn't bother me.
Gladiator is right about heated debates. It is all about ego. It's not "this is right" it's "I am right". If something is right it doesn't need us to defend it. It's just right no matter what.

I didn't believe it while I was a JW. I practiced some yoga the whole time I was in the Watchtower. I even did the Sun Salute...OMG! My wife who is still a JW bought me a new yoga mat about a year ago so I don't think they all believe that way. When I left the Watchtower and went to a fundamentalist church I found some of the same fearful attitudes that a lot of JWs had to things like yoga. Crazy isn't a Watchtower exclusive.
I agree with what Skeeter1 said about it building more strength than weight training. I can go to the gym 3 or 4 days in a row and work out pretty hard and feel fine then go to a vigorous vinyasa yoga glass and find my stomach, arms, and legs all soar the next day.
How much emphasis is placed on the spiritual aspects of yoga can vary from instuctor to intructor and from class to class. My friend who instructs at the church I attend places a lot of emphasis on meditation and chanting other classes I've been to can are mostly just the physical aspects of yoga. As usually religious fear superstition can keep someone ignorant about something that is good for them and that they may really enjoy.
